Shipping Supervisor

Department: Warehouse
Location: Romulus, MI

SUMMARY STATEMENT/POSITION OVERVIEW

 Supervises the daily tasks of all warehouse and exception employees. Responsible for Ford Consigned warehouse processes, Ford Performance; kit process, and other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES 

  • Oversees activity of the warehouse staff, including but not limited to: monitoring picking progress, put-away, material returns, and timely handling, maintenance and control practices.
  • Also responsible for cycle counting process and efficiency leading up to year-end inventory audit.
  • Coordinates picking activity to satisfy the production schedule
  • Prepares work orders for handoff to production staff
  • Coordinates the return of all material back into the warehouse.
  • Verifies counts for accuracy.
  • Coordinates with purchasing for material requests based on daily cycle counts of production and plant materials.
  • Verifies appropriate condition of stock.
  • Coordinates coverage during employees’ vacations.
  • Promotes a safe work environment.
  • Ensures training of new employees, retraining of old (if required) and cross training to allow for a flexible workforce and opportunities for advancement.
  • Communicates effectively and regularly with the warehouse staff.
  • Maintains relevant procedures, processes and work instructions.
  • Issues warning notices to employees for violations of rules or company policies or performance deficiencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

SPECIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE OR QUALIFICATIONS (List specific skills required but not defined in Dimensions)

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in automotive warehousing
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to develop and implement the use of processes and procedures
  • Ability to use all relevant systems, programs, and equipment to complete job
