Continuous Improvement Specialist

Department: Facilities
Location: Dearborn, MI


 Oversee productivity and process management for the facility. Provide support to floor supervisors to ensure that the operation is functioning properly. 


  • Direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, shipping, receiving 3PL & exception
  • Coordinate plant activities with departmental supervisors to ensure the total packaging objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, freight premiums and repair expenses
  • Maintain a clean work area, consistent with workplace organization / 5S ideology
  • Monitor departmental reporting and ensures everything is processed in a timely manner
  • Monitor performance of supervisors and employees to ensure productivity standards are achieved
  • Oversee all plant operations and activities
  • Direct supervisors to address daily needs, issues, or concerns
  • Issue warning notices to employees for violations of rules, company policies or performance deficiencies. Ensure that all vacation request form are filled out and turned into Human Resources
  • Promote safe work environment
  • Provide daily operations reporting to the Plant Manager as requested
  • Lead scheduled 5S and Lean “Waste Walks” on production floor
  • Remove production constraints; coordinate with suppliers/corporate office to ensure equipment and material are available
  • Allocate human and equipment resources and directs operations employees to attain all established goals
  • Provide direction, development and leadership to production supervisor.
  • Meet daily with operations team to review production schedules and current on hand inventory levels

  • Bachelors Degree (business, supply chain, etc.) or a minimum of four years warehousing experience 
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years management experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, instructional and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Strong Microsoft office skills (Word, Excel, etc.) and computer applications
  • Able to use SAP as it relates to the facility
  • Must be willing to travel 50% of the time
