Trainer

Department: Production
Location: Dearborn, MI

The Trainer will have a position conducting training and development programs to improve individual and organizational performance with a focus on trainee development in both an assembly and educational environment. The primary function is to plan, organize, and direct orientation and training programs for employees by teaching lean manufacturing processes aimed at improving product quality, line efficiency, and process optimization. This will be accomplished by offering specific training programs to help workers develop as well as improve job skills. The Trainer will also evaluate new employees, and present training information using a variety of instructional techniques, such as plant floor simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Effectively lead, implement and coordinate training activities
  • Develop training materials
  • Train, teach and ensure the readiness and capability of employees to the production work instructions and processes
  • Train personnel to enhance job skills
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the training and development activities
  • Evaluate production, quality (GP-12) performance and the effectiveness of training programs (TWTTP), while providing recommendations for improvement
  • Work in cooperation with engineers to monitor, improve efficiency, and safety while addressing MTA, WCM, and WO requirements
  • Plan, develop and provide 5S training to improve and sustain workplace organization and cleanliness
  • Conduct and arrange, as Staffing liaison, ongoing technical training and personnel development classes for new trainees
  • Introduce training instructions to trainees for new manufacturing processes
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, and meetings
  • Evaluate employee performance, behavior, social development, and physical ability to stand the duration of a shift
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures
  • Observe and evaluate workers' appearance and performance to ensure quality service and compliance with specifications
  • Help develop/instill self confidence in trainees
  • Train workers in proper operational procedures and functions and explain company policies
  • Motivate, develop, and direct trainees as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning
  • Maintain knowledge of business operations
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among trainees
  • Instruct and monitor trainees in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.

  •   Computer based training software Microsoft Office
  •   Education and Training Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  •   Administration and Management Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  •   Personnel and Human Resources Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, and training.
