Receiving Manager

SUMMARY STATEMENT/POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Manages the Receiving supervisors and Receiving employees who are responsible for all product that is delivered into this facility. Oversees the daily operations of the Receiving activities. Keeps the General Manager informed regarding inbound material delivery performance, employee performance and other aspects of the Receiving department. Controls reporting and communicating awareness to program leaders.  Meets with the employees as needed.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES

  •   Manages Supervisors and ensures employees are adhering to all documented procedures.
  •   Responsible for the Traffic office and the Switch Truck drivers on all shifts
  •   Communicates to SLI when Trailer support is lacking (Empties or Outbound pick-ups)
  •   Ensures Yard check is done daily
  •   Ensures daily reports to the customer are submitted in a timely manner(Daily Yard Report/Pallet Inventory Report)
  •   Keep staff informed of relevant information, policies and procedures
  •   Keep management updated regarding all aspects of Consigned inbound and Purchased material
  •   Conduct regular staff meetings
  •   Train, develop, and cross train Receiving  personnel    
  •   Ensure KPI’s are followed – Aging Material in yard/Timeliness of Trailers being processed/Accuracy of Inbound receipts/Material being tagged and scanned as required by the documented process
  •   Manages department to expanding metrics and process improvements.
  •   Ensures proper Safety protocol is followed in areas of responsibility
  •   Perform other duties as directed by management
  •   Adjusts staffing assignments to address needs as necessary.
  •   Handles damage and error reporting to proper parties based on incidents.
  •   Handles high volume and high stress situations professionally.
  •   Puts in the hours to achieve the results.  Becomes the “OWNER” of the operation.

SPECIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE OR QUALIFICATIONS (List specific skills required but not defined in Dimensions)

  •   BA and/or MBA or equivalent experience
  •   3 years of automotive industry distribution management experience
  •   SAP experience required
  •   Good verbal and written communications skills
  •   Ability to work well under pressure
  •   Ability to work with people at different levels within the organization
  •   Ability to use logical approach to problem solving
  •   Ability to demonstrate good follow through skills
